Cloud Computing Services Bought by Enterprises in Ireland: CSO Figures for 2023 and 2025

For the row "Manufacturing, construction and selected services (10 to 33,41 to 63,68 to 74,77 to 82)", the CSO's table ICA235 gives 64.2% for "Email" in 2025, the highest of the ten services in that row, up from 52.3% in 2023. The results cover enterprises with ten or more persons engaged in the manufacturing, construction and selected services sectors, not every business in Ireland. For the same row in 2025 the table gives 58.1% for "Office software", 52.9% for "Finance or accounting software" and 51.8% for "Storage of files". For that row, every one of the ten services was higher in 2025 than in 2023. The percentage-point changes on this page are ours, and none of the figures is for cafés.

What share of enterprises with ten or more persons engaged in manufacturing, construction and selected services bought cloud email in 2025?

The CSO's table ICA235 gives 64.2% for "Email" in 2025 for the row "Manufacturing, construction and selected services (10 to 33,41 to 63,68 to 74,77 to 82)". After this we call it the combined group. It is one published row of the table, not a sum of the other rows. The release says: "The most popular type of cloud computing service in 2025 was e-mail with 64.2% of enterprises availing of this service, followed by cloud computing for office software (58.1%)."

The Background Notes set the coverage: "The results cover enterprises with ten or more persons engaged in the manufacturing, construction and selected services sectors." So the 64.2% for 2025 is for that group. It is not a figure for businesses in general. The Background Notes also define the term cloud computing, and we add no definition of our own.

Which other cloud computing services did enterprises buy in 2025?

For the combined group the table gives ten services, and in 2025 the four after "Email" were 58.1% for "Office software", 52.9% for "Finance or accounting software", 51.8% for "Storage of files" and 42.6% for "Security software". The release says: "Other types of cloud computing software purchased by enterprises in 2025 was finance or accounting software (52.9%), storage of files (51.8%), and security software (42.6%)."

The other five services were lower. In 2025 the table gives 24.5% for "Hosting the enterprise's database(s)", 19.2% for "Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software", 16.6% for "Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software", 14.7% for "Computing power to run software" and 13.9% for "Computing platform for application development, testing or deployment". We use the CSO's labels as they stand.

How does cloud computing purchase differ by sector group?

The table gives four groups: "Manufacturing (C)", "Construction (F)", the combined group and "Selected services (45 to 63,68 to 74,77 to 82)". For "Email" in 2025 it gives 68.1% for "Manufacturing (C)", 69.5% for "Construction (F)", 64.2% for the combined group and 62.8% for "Selected services (45 to 63,68 to 74,77 to 82)".

For "Office software" in 2025 the table gives 61.3% for "Manufacturing (C)" and 62.7% for "Construction (F)". For "Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software" in 2025 it gives 16.8% for "Manufacturing (C)", 6.1% for "Construction (F)" and 21.7% for "Selected services (45 to 63,68 to 74,77 to 82)". The table below has all ten services for each group in 2025.

How has cloud computing purchase by enterprises changed since 2023?

Every service in the combined group was higher in 2025 than in 2023. The table has two years only, 2023 and 2025, so there is no yearly series and nothing for 2024. For "Email" the table gives 52.3% in 2023 and 64.2% in 2025, a rise of 11.9 percentage points (ours). For "Finance or accounting software" it gives 40.5% in 2023 and 52.9% in 2025, a rise of 12.4 percentage points (ours).

For "Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software" the table gives 17.4% in 2023 and 19.2% in 2025, a rise of 1.8 percentage points (ours). For "Computing power to run software" it gives 7.9% in 2023 and 14.7% in 2025, a rise of 6.8 percentage points (ours). We give no reason for the changes, because the table gives none. The 2023 figures for the combined group are in the last column of the table below.

Does this tell us about cafés?

Not directly. The table has no row for cafés, and we do not estimate one. The coverage is enterprises with ten or more persons engaged in the manufacturing, construction and selected services sectors. For related reading, see the CSO figures on enterprise use of artificial intelligence.

Where do these numbers come from?

They come from the CSO table ICA235 "Purchase of Cloud Computing Services", updated 6 February 2026. We read it on 30 October 2026. The table gives the unit as "%". The table appears in the CSO release "Information Society Statistics - Enterprises 2025", section "Cloud Computing"; we also quote its Background Notes.
