What Enterprise Websites in Ireland Offer: CSO Figures for 2025
The CSO's Information Society Statistics - Enterprises 2025 and its Background Notes together say that 28.6% of enterprises with ten or more persons engaged in manufacturing, construction and selected services had online ordering, reservation, or booking on their websites in 2025. In its words: "In 2025, almost two-thirds of enterprises (66.5%) had goods, services, or price information on their websites, while 28.6% had online ordering, reservation, or booking". These figures cover enterprises with ten or more persons engaged, not every business in Ireland. In the group the CSO calls "Selected services (45 to 63,68 to 74,77 to 82)" the online ordering, reservation, or booking figure is 34.5% in 2025. None of the figures is for cafés.
What share of enterprises with ten or more persons engaged in manufacturing, construction and selected services have a description of goods, services, or price information on their website?
The CSO's table ICA253 gives 66.5% for "Description of goods, services, or price information" in 2025, for the combined group "Manufacturing, construction and selected services (10 to 33,41 to 63,68 to 74,77 to 82)". The release puts it this way: "In 2025, almost two-thirds of enterprises (66.5%) had goods, services, or price information on their websites".
By group in 2025 the table gives 66.6% for "Selected services (45 to 63,68 to 74,77 to 82)", 75.6% for "Manufacturing (C)" and 57.6% for "Construction (F)". Of the eight functions in the table other than use of social media, this is the most common in all four rows of the table. That comparison is ours.
How many enterprises offer online ordering, reservation or booking?
The CSO gives 28.6% for "Online ordering, reservation, or booking" in 2025, for the combined group "Manufacturing, construction and selected services (10 to 33,41 to 63,68 to 74,77 to 82)". For "Selected services (45 to 63,68 to 74,77 to 82)" the table gives 34.5% in 2025, for "Manufacturing (C)" 16.4% and for "Construction (F)" 1.3%.
So in 2025 about one in three enterprises in "Selected services (45 to 63,68 to 74,77 to 82)" (34.5%) had online ordering, reservation, or booking, and it is the largest of the four groups for that function. That reading is ours. We give the figures and no reason for the differences, because the tables give none. For a menu question on a related theme, see our answer on putting prices on an online menu.
What else do enterprise websites offer?
The CSO's release lists the rest for 2025: "21.9% had advertisements of open jobs or online job applications", "Almost one in ten enterprises (9.7%) had websites with a chat service for customer support, while 7.8% had personalised content for regular/recurrent visitors and 7.4% had tracking of online orders. 6.8% of enterprises had content available in at least two languages and 4.1% allowed customers to design or customise online goods or services."
"Use of social media (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, etc.)" sits in the same table dimension, "Website functions". In its text, the release reports it as use by enterprises, for 2025: "Almost three-quarters of Irish enterprises (74.2%) used social media." By group in 2025 the table gives 78.8% for "Selected services (45 to 63,68 to 74,77 to 82)", 68.5% for "Manufacturing (C)" and 50.2% for "Construction (F)". All nine functions by group are in the table below, and in the CSV.
How many enterprises have web sales?
The CSO's table ICA232, "Enterprises with web sales", gives 32.5% for the combined group "Manufacturing, construction and selected services (10 to 33,41 to 63,68 to 74,77 to 82)" in 2025, against 35.8% in 2024 and 30.4% in 2023. For "Selected services (45 to 63,68 to 74,77 to 82)" it gives 37.7% in 2025, 38.9% in 2024 and 35.0% in 2023.
The CSO's Background Notes define the term: "Web sales are sales made via an online store (web shop), via web forms on a website or extranet, or apps." We use no other definition. Web sales and the "Online ordering, reservation, or booking" function are separate figures in separate tables, and we do not add or compare them.
Does this tell us about cafés?
No. The Background Notes say: "The results cover enterprises with ten or more persons engaged in the manufacturing, construction and selected services sectors." The Background Notes list "Selected Services sector: NACE 45-47, 49-53, 55-56, 58-63, 68, 69-75, 77-82". The tables label their own group "Selected services (45 to 63,68 to 74,77 to 82)", and we do not say the two lists are the same. NACE 55-56 is in both, but the tables give only the four rows shown here and no figure for NACE 55-56 on its own. We do not estimate one, and no figure on this page is a café figure.
Where do these numbers come from?
They come from the CSO's release "Information Society Statistics - Enterprises 2025", its section "Internet Access and ICT Usage" and its Background Notes, and from two tables, both updated 6 February 2026: ICA253 "Functions of enterprise websites" and ICA232 "E-Commerce". We read them on 27 October 2026. The release's section "Internet Access and ICT Usage" states the website-function figures as shares "of enterprises"; the tables give the unit as "%".
You can download the figures as a CSV. If you cite it: Cupán Studio, from CSO tables ICA253 and ICA232, read 27 October 2026. For the Google side of a café's online presence, our page on adding a menu to a Google Business Profile is related reading.
